Mineral Grey
Notes from 72 hours in Norway
I just got back from 72 hours in Norway, exhausted but fulfilled in the very best way. I was there for a photoshoot with the incredible Devon Liedtke, a fast and furious thing we planned just weeks before.
The prep for something like this is unbelievable. While I don’t want to risk drawing back the curtain too much on a brand that’s not mine, I will say: we left pretty much nothing to chance. Props, lighting, flowers, and outfits were meticulously planned, and I was (happily) reminded that being a Type A psycho really pays off sometimes.
While I’ve done a lot of winter work travel, it’s hard to predict exactly what you’ll want to wear once you’re there. As it turned out, Norway was warm but rainy, a salty, minerally sort of atmosphere that curled my hair and dampened my socks. Not all around bad weather, just…wet.
While a fall work trip may seem like the perfect opportunity for a really cute outfit, hear me when I say, photoshoots are NOT for the faint of heart. They’re 10-12 hour days with lots of squatting, pacing, reaching, steaming, fussing, styling, and steaming again. Jeans, boots, t-shirts, and sweaters are the name of the game, plus a few fun things for dinners out.
I’ve cataloged my musts below, plus a few nordic inspired wishlist items that caught my eye along the way. I think this list can be translated into other work forms, or even a desk/WFH job. Maybe just swap the boots for slippers:

I lived in these Nili Lotan Mitchell Jeans. I bought these blind off TRR a few weeks ago (no style listed), and even though they weren’t what I initially was hoping for, they’ve quickly become my favorite pair.
I wasted no time breaking these bad boys in. Yes, worth every penny. Do these if you don’t have that many pennies.
This scent is a new favorite, aptly called Mineral Grey. It’s peppery perfection.
This puffer is already my MVP for fall.
Since I’m not in a Rimowa tax bracket, my Away trunk and Longchamp Pilage are my trusty travel companions. Wouldn’t trade them for the world.
Clutches shouldn’t be on this list, but I found so many good ones on TRR today I had to share. Many under $250.
This coat from H&M went to Harvard. Nuff said.
Since I’m feeling nordically inclined, this sweater would be a splurge. This would be a save.
Mark my words, this balaclava will be coming with me next time.
That’s it!
Xx,
Serena
